Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a simple, safe, painless diagnostic procedure that bounces high-frequency sound waves off parts of the body and captures the returning "echoes" as images.

There is no injection or radiation exposure associated with ultrasound.

The examination involves placement of an ultrasound probe (transducer) and a warm coupling gel over the body area being examined.

Diagnostic ultrasound includes exams for diagnosis and treatment. Common areas of examination include:

 

 


No preparation required:

  • Breast
  • Fetal
  • Renal (Kidneys)
  • Scrotal (Testicular)
  • Thyroid (Neck)

Preparation required:

  • Abdominal
    You may take your prescribed medication with a minimal amount of water. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight

  • Gall Bladder
    You may take your prescribed medication with a minimal amount of water. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight

  • Pelvic
    It is very important that you finish drinking 40 ounces of liquid (water or juice) 45 minutes prior to exam. Do not urinate.
